With carefully selected botanicals that soothe and calm inflammation, Purity Cleanser will brighten tired and dull complexions, even skin tone and provide an array of antioxidants to support healthful ageing. 

This beneficial blend of organic plant oils has been chosen for their ability to effectively dissolve impurities on the surface of the skin and within the pores, without disrupting our natural protective ‘acid mantle’. The acid mantle is a thin film on the skin surface composed of lipids and amino acids that provide a home for our microbiome, and together they provide the delicate matrix that creates a healthy intact skin barrier.

Cleansers are often too harsh, disturbing the acid mantle and our beneficial microbiome, reducing the skin's ability to protect itself and exacerbating or even causing skin issues. 

This is a concentrated cleanser, a little goes a long way! Mix with equal amounts of water in the palm of the hand to effectively remove makeup, sunscreen or oily excretions from the skin and water-dissolvable skin excretions such as sweat and salts.

Key Botanicals
Jojoba and sunflower are perfect oils for cleansing. The balance of their fatty acids helps to decongest pores and minimise their appearance. The wax esters in jojoba oil are very similar to the composition of our own sebum, making it able to dissolve the build-up of debris in pores. Naturally antibacterial, antiviral, anti-fungal, and anti-inflammatory, it supports skin cell regeneration and assists in the healthy production of the acid mantle to support the barrier function.

Lavender balances oil production in both oily and dry skins, its cooling anti-inflammatory action is healing even for sensitive skin.

Calendula supports anti-inflammatory pathways, encourages normal cell turnover and regenerates skin tissues. It has natural antimicrobial properties that make it effective at fighting acne-causing bacteria and other harmful microorganisms on the skin.

With an abundance of carotenoids and resins it is excellent for most forms of skin damage, from hyperpigmentation to barrier repair.

Helichrysum As a result of its considerable healing properties, it enjoys a special place within traditional herbal medicine as well as modern aromatherapy. It is able to stimulate the production of healthy skin cells, combat metabolic cellular ageing, effectively reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and scars and aid wound healing.

It enhances circulation and helps against certain bacterial infections. It is excellent as a skin purifier and is very supportive of acne conditions.

Begin by gently warming the skin, wrap a warm ‘steamy’ muslin or face cloth over the entire face hold for a few seconds and repeat. This softens surface dirt and makeup and softens the skin and pore walls to aid deeper pore cleansing.

Place 2-5 pumps of cleanser into a WET palm (it’s concentrated!) add a little more water by slowly dripping water from the finger tips of your other hand. Mix cleanser and water together well, press palms together and spread over hands. Press on to face and neck, then very gently using slow rhythmical circles, massage over forehead, down nose, across cheeks, chin and neck, always working from the centre line of the face out to ears, this encourages flow of lymph in the right direction towards lymph nodes and beyond, to the ducts.

Follow by wrapping your warm ‘steamy’ muslin over face and neck, hold gently (it’s very comforting), before sweeping outwards to remove. Rinse cloth/ muslin and repeat ‘compress holds’ and sweeps until cleanser is removed and skin is soft and fresh.

To remove eye makeup prior to this, you can dispense 1-2 pumps of cleanser and spread between two damp cotton pads, place over closed eyes for several seconds, then gently sweep over eyes a few times to remove mascara and eye makeup.

Tip
If you're tight for time in the mornings (who isn't!) and you don't have overly oily skin, you can choose to skip cleansing this way in the morning as long as you have cleansed properly the evening before. In the morning you can simply splash a few times with warm water before misting with your chosen Essence and applying Serum or Balm.
