This oil is full of goodness and zero waste too! The seeds are a by-product of the fruit juice and jam industry, so they’re ‘upcycled’ to make this glorious oil! Produced from fruit grown in the UK the oil is certified organic by the Soil Association.
Raspberry seed oil is made up of about 52% linoleic acid (omega 6), which helps cell regeneration and stops your skin from drying out. Linoleic acid is crucial for a healthy, functioning skin barrier and to support its repair when damaged. Studies have shown that linoleic acid is often deficient in those with skin conditions such as acne, eczema and psoriasis, by ensuring a plentiful supply of this essential fatty acid, barrier function can be repaired and skin conditions alleviated.
Raspberry seed oil is exceptionally high in vitamins E and provitamin A, giving it superb antioxidant properties and the high concentration of phospholipids make it an excellent oil for conditioning the skin. It is a very light oil that sinks into the skin quickly creating a dry but deeply moisturised feel.
The source of the phenolic acid, is Ellagic acid, an antioxidant compound that protects skin collagen and promotes cellular regeneration. It also has anti-inflammatory, antiviral and antiseptic properties and can help to strengthen thinning skin.
One of the most interesting developments is the studies that have shown Raspberry seed oil's potential as a broad spectrum UVA and UVB sunscreen, with an SPF of between 28-50. This is not an invitation to through safe sun practices aside but any natural protection we can have from the sun is all positive.
